[BBC] Professor Jack Leunissen

It is with deep sadness I inform you that Jack Leunissen, Professor of Bioinformatics at Wageningen University, passed away Monday May 14 after a long illness at the age of 57.

As a pioneer in bioinformatics he has made a great contribution to the development of the bioinformatics discipline. His enthousiasm and views have inspired generations of young researchers and students in the world. He was involved with his staff and students until the very end. His passion and knowledge of bioinformatics will remain an inspiration to us all.

We wish Jack's family strength to cope with this loss.
