Dear All,

I pass on below an opening for a post-doc position at EMBL in Heidelberg

Best wishes,

Aidan

The Patil group at the EMBL in Heidelberg uses a combination of modelling,
bioinformatics, and experimental approaches to study metabolic networks
and how they are controlled.

This project aims at integrating genomics and transcriptomics datasets
from various CHO cell lines to build genome-scale models for use in
computer-aided design of CHO cell factories. The project will also involve
development of bioinformatics resources and databases for the
international CHO cell community. The project will be carried out in close
collaboration with the group of Nicole Borth from the Austrian Centre for
Industrial Biotechnology. The project provides a unique opportunity for
candidates who wish to apply their bioinformatics skills to biological
problems of industrial importance.

The candidate should have a PhD degree in computational biology/systems
biology/computer science. Experience in more than one
programming/scripting languages (C++, Perl, Python etc.) is a must.
Familiarity with database management and web development will be an added
advantage. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have
excellent scientific skills. S/he should have good communication skills in
English and an open, proactive personality to work in a team of young
international researchers.

Start date: January 2014 (flexible). Project duration: 2 years (+ 2 year
extension possibility)
