DSM Biotechnology Center (DBC) is the primary location for biotechnological Research and Development and is responsible for the realization of biotechnological  innovations and the developments of new products and cost effective production processes. The Genetics Department is part of the DBC and serves the different businesses by delivering new and improved strains for the production of biocatalysts and bioproducts by means of classical and GMO strain development and (HT) screening technology.

Within the Genetics Department of the DBC there is a vacancy for the position of:



(Associate) Scientist Biostatistics and Screening


The Challenge

The (Associate) Scientist Biostatistics and Screening has a key role within the DSM Biotechnology Center, responsible for supporting microbial and enzyme screening projects to generate industrial bio-products with applications in food, feed, bio-based chemicals and biofuels. From your home base in the bioinformatics &  biostatistics cluster you will participate in multi-disciplinary project teams in which you will be the data processing expert. Your challenge will be to develop, implement and apply statistical tools and workflows for processing of high throughput screening data.


The Ideal

You are a MSc or PhD in the area of biostatistics, bioinformatics and/or ICT.  Preferably you have 3-5 years of experience in statistical data processing of biological data from high throughput screening campaigns and/or analytical lab data like LC-MSMS and NMR. Experience in an automated lab environment and handling large data sets in a biotech or pharma environment is an advantage. You are able to translate a biological question into an experimental design and statistical approach. You are a multidisciplinary team player, who takes initiative. Personal skills like problem analysis, creativity and being a good communicator characterize your identity.
