Details:       “Quantitative Genomics: Exploring the genetic
	       architecture of heterosis in maize”
	       
	       ABSTRACT
	       The seminar will describe the approaches of quantitative
	       genetics and genomics applied to identify heterotic QTL
	       in maize and the difficult and somehow frustrating
	       effort in trying to physically isolate the corresponding
	       loci. In this seminar the development and fine genotypic
	       characterization of near-isogenic lines for selected
	       heterotic QTL will be described. Finally it will be
	       presented a new large multi-parental population recently
	       produced in maize and the challenge posed by its
	       characterization.
