Dear Colleagues,
this is a warm welcome to attend the seminar of Adrian Percy on Monday May 16th. Adrian currently serves as the executive director of the North Carolina Plant Sciences Initiative (N.C. PSI): a world-class research and innovation effort that is poised to solve some of the world’s grandest agricultural issues. Previously he was the CTO of UPL Ltd and the head of research and development for the Crop Science division of Bayer as part of their executive committee.
Our Center has a longstanding collaboration with the North Caroline State University. The VIB-UGent Center of Plant Systems Biology and N.C.PSI have agreed to join forces on selected research area's involving crops such as soybean. Much of the expertise of N.C. PSI is highly complementary to the expertise in our Center. The lecture will only take 30 min followed by Q&A. Highly recommended.

North Carolina State University has embarked on a visionary Plant Sciences Initiative (PSI) intended to directly address the grand challenges of agriculture and provide solutions for a growing world. The N.C. PSI will support wide-ranging research, education and training by creating an environment and culture in which such learning activities can thrive through the convergence of interdisciplinary collaboration. This new research and application ecosystem will combine world-class assets from across a wide spectrum of disciplines including plant sciences, engineering, economics, modeling, and data analytics. It will build partnerships among academia, industry, and government in collaboration with growers to maximize understanding of the challenges and opportunities, and ensure rapid delivery of solutions.

Hope to see many of you.

With kind regards
Dirk
