Reproducibility is at the heart of credible science. Yet, as research becomes more complex and interdisciplinary, ensuring reproducibility is more challenging than ever. That’s why VIB Training & Conferences and UGent invite you to the 2nd edition of the micro-credential course:

 

Reproducible Data Analysis: an Essential Capability in Modern Science

Location: Ghent – VIB/UGent FSVM II
Duration: 9 days (September – December 2025)
Credits: 3 ECTS (Ghent University certified)

What you will learn

  • Use Git & GitHub for version control and collaborative projects
  • Differentiate and work with Docker and Apptainer for various computing environments
  • Develop and adapt container recipes for local use and supercomputers
  • Run and adapt Nextflow pipelines with best practices
  • Combine containerization, pipelines, and version control for reproducible, transparent research

Course details

  • 29 September: Introduction of cases and challenges 
  • 9 & 10 October: Git & GitHub 
  • 17 October: High Performance Computing (HPC) introduction
  • 23 & 24 October: Docker & Apptainer
  • 27 & 28 November: Nextflow
  • 12 December: Project Day & Assessment

Format: hands-on training, project evaluation & oral assessment
Prerequisites: basic shell commands (Linux). Preparatory resources provided.

 

Micro-credentials are short, accredited learning packages issued by Flemish universities, expressed in ECTS credits, and designed to be flexible, high-quality, and career-oriented while remaining compatible with professional commitments.

You will be guided by an expert team with both academic and applied experience in bioinformatics, pipelines, and data management:
