The Royal Society and Académie des sciences Microsoft European Science Award 2008

- Call for nominations DEADLINE APPROACHING

 

The Royal Society and Académie des sciences are pleased to invite nominations for the 2008 Royal Society and Académie des sciences Microsoft European Science Award.

 

This award, sponsored by Microsoft Research, recognises and rewards scientists who have made a major contribution to the advancement of the biological sciences through the use of computational methods. The prize is open to any research scientist working in Europe. The award will comprise a trophy and €250,000, of which €7,500 will constitute prize money and the rest will be earmarked for further research.

 

Nominations can be made by senior academics and members of the National Academies of Science. The nominations consist of a statement from the nominator outlining the candidate’s scientific record, suitability for the award and impact in their subject area, and a proposal by the nominee for the programme of research activities on which to spend the award. The closing date for nominations is Monday 25 February 2008.
