The successful candidates will engage in cutting-edge research on building and accelerating bioinformatics analyses for modern omics data (e.g., sequencing, metagenomics, genomics, and pangenomics data). Requirements for PhD Student application: - Strong skills in at least one of the following programming languages is a MUST: C, C++, Rust, or Python. - Expertise in developing efficient data structures and combinatorial algorithms (dynamic programming, greedy algorithms, approximation algorithms, graph theory) is a MUST - Understanding biology, bioinformatics, or omics data is a plus (but not required). - Proficiency in machine learning is a plus. - Proficiency in CUDA programming, hardware description languages (Verilog, VHDL), or processing-in-memory is a plus. - Requirements for application to PhD at Georgia State University must be fulfilled: <https://cas.gsu.edu/program/computer-science-phd/> - A BSc or MSc degree in computer science or its equivalent. - Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0.
