As a researcher, you’re expected to produce results that are transparent, shareable, and reproducible. Yet most of us were never formally trained in how to make our code, pipelines, and computational environments truly reusable.

Faced reviewer requests that required painful reconstruction of your workflow?
Reproducible data analysis is no longer optional — it’s becoming a core research skill. That’s why VIB Training & Conferences, in collaboration with Ghent University, is organizing the micro-credential
Reproducible Data Analysis (3 ECTS), starting in October 2026.
The program consists of four individual courses that you can also take separately. Below is an overview of each course and its focus.

Each of the four courses builds toward your final project, giving you a complete toolkit for reproducible data analysis.

5 & 6 November: Versioning code and documentation with Git & GitHub
Keep track of changes and collaborate without confusion.
You will learn to:

Track and organize changes in your code and documents

Collaborate smoothly without overwriting each other’s work

Share projects clearly and professionally

20 November: High Performance Computing: Structure and practice essentials
Run large analyses efficiently on shared computing systems.
You will learn to:

Work confidently on a remote Linux system

Submit and manage analysis jobs

Use computing resources efficiently

23 & 24 November: Containerize data analysis with Docker & Apptainer
Make sure your analysis runs the same way everywhere.
You will learn to:

Package software and dependencies into portable environments

Run your analysis on different systems without breaking it

Share complete, ready-to-use setups with collaborators

7 & 8 December: Nextflow for reproducible and automated data analysis
Turn scripts into structured, reusable workflows.
