Job Description:
The Molecular Breeding data includes NGS sequences and assemblies, re-sequencing variants, marker assays, genotyping scores, genetic and physical maps. The management of these datasets includes QC, processing, formatting, structured storage in our database platform, and the development, implementation, improvement and maintenance of tools to make the data available to the Molecular Breeding researchers. You will work in strong collaboration with scientists and research assistants in the Genetics and Genomics teams of the Molecular Breeding department, colleagues in Bayer CropScience Bioinformatics, and external service providers.
Major Accountabilities:· Leading a team of Bioinformatics Research Assistants to contribute most effectively and efficiently to the Molecular Breeding department.
· Management of public and private data used in the Molecular Breeding department.
· Development and/or implementation of workflows, pipelines, platforms, and tools to process, manage and make available such data.
· High-throughput data analysis consultation and training for scientists and research assistants of the Molecular Breeding teams.
Requirements:
· Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in Bioinformatics, Genetics or Genomics with a strong affinity for Molecular Breeding Data Management and Analysis.
· Experience in at least one scripting language of Perl, R, PHP or Python.
· Experience in the Unix or Linux operating systems.
· Experience in requirements analysis, design, development and/or implementation of genomics database and tool platforms.
· Experience in project management.
· Creative, pragmatic, autonomous, and customer and result oriented approach to biological data management and analysis.
· Good and open communicator (in English).
· Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills and a team player.
