We have a temporary position in our bioinformatics group in Beerse. This position is open until the end of 2010.

In this function you will be part of the bioinformatics team and be involved in:

· Analysis of the results of next generation sequencing experiments in the fields of HIV, Hepatitis C, and Oncology. These experiments are done in support of the discovery and development of new drugs, and in the development of biomarkers for these drugs. We have a specific project that involves the optimization of an alignment algorithm.

· Visualization of complex data with specialized tools

· Executing database queries for data mining

Qualifications

· Master's degree in Bioinformatics or a related field with at least one year of relevant experience in academia or industry, or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or a related field

· Expertise in scientific programming and/or scripting, and algorithm development.

· Outstanding communication and team work skills.
