A.H.C. van Kampen +31-20-5667096 a.h.vankampen@amc.uva.nl Background The Bioinformatics Laboratory is part of the department of Clinical Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics (KEBB) and is involved in bioinformatics and systems biology research, education, and support. Research projects focus on the integrative analysis of (multi-)omics data and the development of computational models to understand immune processes. The bioinformatics core facility is part of the Bioinformatics Laboratory and is one of the AMC facilities that support AMC research groups and provides support for the analysis of omics data. The bioinformatics core facility collaborates with the metabolomics facility that is part of the Laboratory for Genetic Metabolic Diseases for the analysis of UPLC-MS metabolomics/ lipidomics data. As part of this collaboration, a bioinformatics pipeline has been developed in the R/Shiny programming environment for the (pre)processing of the LC-MS data. The candidate will be responsible for the analysis of metabolomics datasets using this pipeline, and will be involved in the improvement and extension of the functionality of the pipeline. In addition, he/she will be involved in tasks to support the activities of the Bioinformatics Laboratory such as user administration of the Unix server and computer/backup support. Candidate profile We are looking for a candidate at HBO/university level: * a strong background in bioinformatics, computer science, or similar; * affinity with metabolomics, chemistry, and biomedical research; * strong programming skills. Knowledge of R and Shiny is a plus; * experience with (statistical) data analysis; * excellent communication and presentation skills; * independent but able to work in a multi-disciplinary team; * proficiency in the English language. Salary/hours The contract for 12 months for 30 hours per week is offered after which a permanent contract is given when the performance is sufficient. The maximum salary is 3837,- euro gross per month (based on full-time position).
