Dear Colleagues, It is our great pleasure to announce to you the first ever "Belgian Symposium on Tissue Engineering (BSTE) 2012". This is a two-day national symposium organized by "KULeuven Prometheus", and co-organised by other research groups in the field from universities across Belgium. AIMS: (1) To bring together scientists nationwide to discuss frontline research in the rapidly expanding field of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, with special focus on a strategic plan for the development and manufacturing of Tissue Engineering (TE) products for effective tissue repair. (2) Serves as initial contact/meeting platform to promote scientific networking and potential research collaborations at both national and international levels. (3) To help young researchers in the establishment of their careers via dedicated young researcher session. LIST OF CONFIRMED INVITED SPEAKERS: Molly Stevens (Imperial College London, UK) "Engineer Large Quantities of Human Mature Bone for Autologous Transplantation" Athanasios Mantalaris (Imperial College London, UK) "Fabricating "Designed" Tissue Engineered Products - How far are we yet?" Farlan Veraitch (University College London, UK) "Automation for Robust Stem Cell Bioprocessing" Mehmet Dokmeci (Harvard Medical School, USA) "Microengineered Tissue Engineering Constructs for 3D Tissue Assembly & Tissue Formation" Matthias W. Laschke (University of Saarland, Germany) "Vascularization Strategies for Tissue Engineering Constructs: Angiogenesis versus Inosculation" April Craft (University of Pittsburgh, USA) "Pluripotent Stem Cells: A Developmental Approach for Cartilage and Bone Tissue Engineering" IMPORTANT DEADLINES: Abstract Submission : 31st July 2012 Notification of Acceptance : Within one week after abstract submission Early Bird Registration : 3rd August 2012 Registration deadline : 18th August 2012 For more details, please visit the symposium website at: http://sirius.mtm.kuleuven.be/prometheus/bste2012.html We look forward to welcoming you to BSTE 2012!
