Upcoming BioSB courses!

Dear colleagues, A number of interesting courses from the BioSB Research school are scheduled in the coming months. Please note that two courses still have an early bird rate, so register in time! Knowledge Graphs in the Life Sciences 13 - 17 March, Wageningen NOTE: there are only a few spots still available The first part of the course introduces you to the knowledge, theory, and skills needed to work with Linked Data. We will then focus on research and industrial data applications and needs that are increasingly in demand. The course is aimed at PhD students with a background in biology, computer science or a related field, and life sciences. Participants from the private sector are also welcome. Preparation material will be distributed dug the course. **************************************************** More information about the course can be found here<https://eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dtls.nl%2Fcourses%2Ffair-linked-data-in-the-life-sciences%2F&data=05%7C01%7Cpetra.aarnoutse%40health-ri.nl%7C009fbe44d40842aec09908db1e876701%7C4bdee30a0c944865bc521d9f894a4975%7C0%7C0%7C638137339117575450%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=mYBkhO%2B3tI0p879B%2FrjAkqP3UZQwZXevaihrmo1G1Bg%3D&reserved=0> Registration can be done here<https://eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aanmelder.nl%2F139335%2Fsubscribe&data=05%7C01%7Cpetra.aarnoutse%40health-ri.nl%7C009fbe44d40842aec09908db1e876701%7C4bdee30a0c944865bc521d9f894a4975%7C0%7C0%7C638137339117575450%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=ZD9LruAgSjkbly82NYktfwvUORTJWiFdyYWvDFRYuA0%3D&reserved=0> **************************************************** Molecular Epidemiology of Complex Diseases 12 - 16 June, Maastricht NOTE: deadline early bird rate = 16 April 2023 This course aims to facilitate the acquisition of the essentials of molecular epidemiology: combining information from molecular biomarkers as obtained through omics technologies, with lifestyle and environmental factors, to understand disease occurrence and prognosis in population-based studies. Dear colleagues, I'm pleased to anounce a new series of courses organized by the BioSB research school. Be sure to register on time (and be aware of the early bird discount). Molecular Epidemiology of Complex Diseases 12 - 16 June, Maastricht NOTE: deadline early bird rate = 16 April 2023 This course aims to facilitate the acquisition of the essentials of molecular epidemiology: combining information from molecular biomarkers as obtained through omics technologies, with lifestyle and environmental factors, to understand disease occurrence and prognosis in population-based studies. This is because the dynamical behavior of complex systems cannot be reduced to the linear sum of the functions of their parts. Given the huge complexity of biological systems, it is necessary to carefully understand the specific modelling requirements they pose, in order to define what a good model should look like. In this course we offer the participants the possibility to learn and exercise the modeling process. The course is aimed at PhD students with a background in bioinformatics, systems biology, computer science or a related field, and life sciences. Participants from the private sector are also welcome. A working knowledge of mathematics, especially differential equations, is recommendable, but we will distribute preparation material to be studied by students missing the required background. Furthermore, at the start we offer a math refresher to help those participants who are not (yet) involved in modelling on a daily basis. **************************************************** More information about the course can be found here<https://www.dtls.nl/courses/integrated-modeling-and-optimization-fundamental/> Registration can be done here<https://eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aanmelder.nl%2Falgorithms-biomolecular-networks%2Fsubscribe&data=05%7C01%7Cpetra.aarnoutse%40health-ri.nl%7C9af4cb3ba6f240a7b34c08db1ee7f864%7C4bdee30a0c944865bc521d9f894a4975%7C0%7C0%7C638137753894008088%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=ns5dEFolt0Nb%2F%2F2%2BwnllWWa0cauYbOXb6zouWqwOvQg%3D&reserved=0> **************************************************** We hope to welcome you to one of our courses!
