The University of Luxembourg is inviting applications for a Bioinformatician (m/f) (Adjoint de Recherche) Permanent contract, full time Ref. F1-060004 Employee status The University of Luxembourg engages a scientist with a strong interdisciplinary background in bioinformatics. The successful candidate will be active within the Life Sciences Research Unit and interact with the Bioinformatics Core Facility of the recently funded Luxembourg Center for Systems Biomedicine. Vos tâches The successful candidate will work together with the teams of LSRU to provide support and expertise in bioinformatics within the frame of their projects. The candidate should be able to work independently, prioritize and manage a variety of tasks. He /she will contribute to data-mining of preprocessed data (e.g. microarrays, next generation sequencing, metabolomics, proteomics data provided by Centers). The candidate will develop novel bioinformatics tools and approaches, in cooperation with the Bioinformatics Core Facility of the LCSB. He/she will organise training sessions in bioinformatics for scientists and PhD students. Votre profil Qualifications and Experience The candidate should be experienced with handling knowledge databases, resources and tools commonly used in bioinformatics for sequence alignments, gene annotation, binding motif predictions, gene ontology and pathway analyses. He/she should have expertise in high throughput data analysis and predictive network generation. Good knowledge of various high trough-put technologies and platforms is expected. The candidate should be capable of making use of statistical methods commonly used in bioinformatics. Solid skills in IT, database management, programming languages e.g. java, PERL, and in data visualisation are expected. Excellent organizational and communication skills are a prerequisite for the position. PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, and/or biology with a proven track record in bioinformatics. A publication record in bioinformatics with relevance to biological sciences. As the candidate will have to deal with in a multilingual context, she/he must have an excellent command of English language (written and spoken). Knowledge of French and/or German will be considered as an advantage.
