Ik zit namelijk in Italie (Trentino) dan om over het appelgenoom te spreken. Sorry daarvoor. Met vriendelijke groeten, Yves
Dear colleague,
I am happy to inform you that you have been selected as a *VIB-keynote
speaker* to give an introduction in the parallel science sessions at the VIB seminar, March 6 2008:
session 1
/Rudi Beyaert: Cancer biology and Cell Death/
Patrick De Baetselier: /Immunology and Molecular Medicine/
session 2
Diether Lambrechts: /Cell and Developmental Biology/
Bassem Hassan: /Neuroscience// /session 3//
Johan Thevelein: /Signal Transduction and Gene Regulation /
Albena Jordanova: /Genetics// /session 4//
Kris Gevaert: /Protein Structure Function and Analysis /
Yves Van de Peer: /Systems and Integrative Biology/
The Organizing Committee introduced a new feature to this years' seminar; to make the parallel science sessions more accessible for all
researchers, the parallel sessions - each covering two science topics - will start with an introduction on each of these two topics. The aim
of these keynote talks (30' each) is to give a very general introduction to that specific research area, covering the current knowledge and research results. You can compare it with a 30' review on that specific topic. Please note that you are NOT to elaborate for 30' on your own research results; but of course if you have relevant topics, you can refer to them, but surely not in detail. Please refer to the posters of your group members for your research details.
I am aware that this will mean a bit more work, but I am sure you understand that such an introduction can be of great value to the younger scientists and researchers from other fields. I know you are expert in this area and I am convinced your presentation will be of great value to all researchers. You have been selected by the Organizing Committee based on your research experience and speaking skills.
For your information, the two keynote talks are followed by 4 short talks (15') which will be selected by the OC from the submitted abstracts. The selected abstracts will be forwarded to you on January 29; perhaps they can be of use to you.
I trust you are willing to accept this invitation; thank you for confirming this before *January 28*. Please note that your abstract is
due on February 8. I am a aware that some of you didn't put themselves
forward as a candidate, but we hope you will accept our invitation anyway. In addition, some of you are not yet registered; please let us
know if you will be needing accommodation.
Looking forward to your reply.
With kind regards
Ann
