If you're looking for serious computational systems biology in plants, this paper would be my favorite: <http://biology.plosjournals.org/perlserv/?request=get-document&doi=10.1371/journal.pbio.0040312> Here is her homepage: <http://www.phys.psu.edu/~ralbert/> If it has to be someone from Europe, my first thought would be to round up the usual suspects from Israel, Uri Alon, Ron Shamir, etc., but that's not very original ... If it has to be someone from Europe, my first thought would be to round up the usual suspects from Israel, Uri Alon, Ron Shamir, etc., but that's not very original ... Well, we have never invited Ron Shamir. The problem is that he would be very interesting for our team to invite, but the last talk I've seen was not totally thrilling :-) But maybe it was just me ...

I would definitely try to invite Ron Shamir. But if you're worried about his appeal as a speaker, we could go for one of his former students, e.g. Amos Tanay (now has his own group at Weizmann). Or why not use our Broad connection to invite Aviv Regev ? S Yves Van de Peer wrote:

Some people related to our research topics: Amos Tanay, Dana Pe'er (but she is in the US), and Michal Linial? We could perhaps also try Nir Friedman or Eran Segal? Less related, but might be interesting: Denis Noble (http://noble.physiol.ox.ac.uk/People/DNoble/)? Nathalie Yves Van de Peer wrote:
