Hi,
I have some rather old (2002 or something) video files encoded with the
ripped DivX3.1 codec (those were the days...). However, no hardware
solution (dvd-player with support for divx, ps3, ....) can play those,
so i was thinking of converting them to either mpeg2 or mpeg4/divx5.
Anyone knows a program how to easily do this? The official divx
converter doesn't want to recognize the ripped codec, so i'm kinda
stuck. And yes, I've been googling, but half the software you get this
way, you either have to pay for it or it's just malware/spyware.

So... some geeky stuff. I told some of you I really wanted one of those
tiny laptops, without spending too much.. So in the end I got ...
http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index.php/taxid;2136212930;pid;5507;pt;1
For 300€ in the Macro, if anybody was wondering. You can get it with
Linux as well (though probably not in the Macro), and then you will get
a 20 GB hard drive, instead of 12 GB. Both versions should cost the same
(300€), but they just put in more memory in the Linux one because they
could save on licensing information. I wasn't aware of the Linux one
when buying the Windows (XP) one, but don't really care, I still like to
be able to open .doc and .excell properly :p (and I don't think running
vmware is an option on this thing)
Anyway... even though I only just got it, and haven't been able to play
with it properly yet (away for the weekend), I've already fallen in love
with it :-) From now on, it will probably travel with me whenever I go
on a conference :-)
End of message.
