And some whisper that Windows 7 isn't as bad as the commercials. Take Vista without the cluster needed to power your desktop.
Vista is pretty decent on most hardware, just don't try to run it on a Pentium II. I'm running it on two laptops, preinstalled and too lazy to remove it. Either way, battery lasts anything between 3-4 hours when I'm using it for real. Only 2 hours when doing cpu intensive things (like playing games). So either I'm running around with a cluster and giant ups or maybe it isn't as bad as some people claim. Vista had a bad start, but improved vastly with the updates. I don't think it's as bad as you may think from reading slashdot. -Thomas
