Why should I be serving on UGent network every freaking second of my free time?
That makes no sense!

This might not really be a popular opinion here, but it's really not
that hard to create a vpn connection, is it? I understand it might be a
bit across the ocean, but here in flanders it's not really that much of
an issue imho.

Is this the reason why I couldn't access my mail with Thunderbird

Hey, that's unfair!
(Could we throw something at IT?)

Hi all,

IT downstairs has a new policy. The IMAP mailserver is only available
from within the UGent VPN or from webmail. I asked to make the SMTP
server also available outside the VPN, but apparently they
misunderstood me.

Webmail is too much of a hassle and the VPN is too slow over the
ocean. As such, I will no longer be checking this e-mail address on a
regular basis, maybe just once every few days.

If you want to reach me more reliable:
tabeel@broad.mit.edu

cheers,
Thomas
