I really wonder who would buy this stuff... I mean, a student who is seen by other students wearing a sweat-shirt of UGent, will most likely be the target of some mockery... We're no americans here, going to the Ghent university does not really cary a lot of prestige with it.
Not totally sure about that. Indeed, we're not that close to our university as Americans seem to be (at least in the movies), but I have a feeling that this is changing slightly. UGent has done some nice attempts to have a cool image and there's enough "we are better" feelings toward Leuven and Brussels to make some students want to show of with the fact that they're in Ghent.
At least I know of some who just discovered the new sweater line and are thinking about buying one.
I'd settle for the stylish USB stick :-)

Here is another example on how they want to boost university spirit. I'm still hoping for UGent Cheerleaders or is that more a high-school thing ? :p
Bests, Seb
To be honest ... exactly why is the UGent following this American/English tradition? Yeah, there will be more of an identification with the university (perhaps), but I really am not in favor of such nonsensical stuff. Although I do agree with seb about the cheerleaders (which we must save, in order to save the world). -- ================================================================== Michiel Van Bel PhD student Tel:+32 (0)9 331 36 95 fax:+32 (0)9 3313809 VIB Department of Plant Systems Biology, Ghent University Technologiepark 927, 9052 Gent, BELGIUM mibel@psb.ugent.be http://www.psb.ugent.be ==================================================================
