Hi,
maybe as a way to promote BOGAS online and to make sure we don't get called BOGUS too many times, isn't it time to get a undeniably great new acronym or name for this online annotation system?
The criteria: - good google hits for the word only (extra points for unique one word hits!) - not easy to rephrase into something ludicrous
The best acronym I've found so far is: - BABES: Bioinformatics Annotation and Browsing Euhm System (aka Boobs And Beer Equals) (this would be so great to mention on a resume or a tshirt: I work for BABES. It beats 'I work for Lieven' any day ;)) - BOA: Bioinformatics Online Annotation (and we get a kewl logo too! (probably a snake strangling the PLAZA logo?))
And some I found back as a suggestion in 2007: - (bio)SOA: System for Online Annotation (Works great for a tshirt again: I work with SOA) (We would directly have a slogan: "Because annotating is so contagious") - OAPS (Online Annotation Portal System: "OAPS! Let's correct it") - biongeant (BIoinformatics ONline GEnome ANnotation sysTem) (sound very good in French, no?) - O!Gant (Online! Genome ANnot sysTem. And also a clever way to promote Gent. (And O!Zwijnaarde doesn't really sound right)) - iAnnot (just to step onto the web 2.0 iPod generation train)
Goes well with jAnnot, which is the data library in GenomeView GECO GEnome Curation Onine
Does anyone have any other contributions? I can gather all responses and votes to see if one sticks out..
