Ok. Thanks a lot. It works now! Ward Thomas Van Parys wrote:

hey,
Frederik heeft mij een of andere Redhat-entitlement gegeven intussen, zodat ik tetex succesvol heb kunnen installeren (43 M via sudo yum install tetex). Jammer genoeg geeft pdflatex aan de commandline nog steeds command not found.
Oh yeah. English...
( Frederick has given me some Redhat-given entitlement now, so I have been able to install tetex successful (43 M via sudo yum install tetex). Unfortunately pdflatex gives the command to still command not found. )
Any other ideas?
Ward,
I gave you a list of the installed packages on my computer. Did you install them all? The file 'pdflatex' is in one of them, and I'll give you a hint: it's NOT in tetex.i386
'man yum' or 'man rpm' both give you tons of ways to solve this riddle.

If I type yum search tetex I get nothing but this:
*Note* Red Hat Network repositories are not listed below. You must run this command as root to access RHN repositories. RHN support will be disabled.
No other results... Seems IT needs to give me root access, no?
Apparently you have sudo rights on yum... to know for sure, enter 'sudo -l' ... it'll list your permissions.
So if the thing wants you to run it as root, then do so ... do "sudo yum list tetex" ... or "sudo yum list *tex*" in case RedHat uses other Tex packages...
If this doesn't work, ask IT...

If you could install texmaker, you can install latex as well.
On my Fedora machine, I apparently have these packages:
tetex.i386 tetex-dvips.i386 tetex-fonts.i386 tetex-latex.i386 texinfo.i386 texinfo-tex.i386
probable just "sudo yum install tetex" will install the stuff you need.
And I like using Kile (KDE tex-editor) as editor.
cheers, T.
