Appearantly these guys can just drive into the underground parking-lot an grab some bikes. As there are no means to attach it it's completely pointless to use the second lock anyway.
This means working from home on Monday to pick it up, what is a lot less productive then working from the VIB. Guess that will "cost" the UGent more then what their charging me. Well done!
Didn't know you were driving one of those yellow UGent bikes. I'd be pretty pissed of as well... But I believe it's in the contract that you're obliged to always lock your bike onto something and use the wheel lock? I think they just want to enforce this behavior, but IMO they'd better use a less intrusive approach, eg. by attaching a warning to your bike, maybe charging a small fine to your account (they know who you are anyway), ... While I believe they indeed have the right to put 'their' bike in a safer place, it's indeed rather contra-productive (and I guess they'll have an agreement with VIB on this). This being said: you can always lock you're bike to the bike rack (those metal rings). I never leave my own bike anywhere without the frame tightly attached to something, even if I have to put my bike a street farther away (learned this lesson after locking only the wheel of my last bike... I still have the wheel...). T.

Beste,
Mvg
