And concerning the difficulties with parking spaces... just widen all spaces and put a limit and the maximum width of cars (those 4x4's and SUV's have no reason to be in a city anyway). That should help already.
In some countries they solve these kind of problems by making women carry their groceries on their heads and their kids on their backs. I'm kind of in favor for that one. Very environment friendly as well. Anyway, who are we annoying with these sudden flow of deep conversations in their mailbox? T.

the problem would be solved if they wouldn't call it 'woman's parking places', no?
It mainly disturbes me that they call it woman's place, eventhough anyone with parking or parking place problems could use them. It's back to the pre-war/50's Christian woman at home kind of promotions.
Every woman should be proud that after 50 years of emancipation you get extra illuminated women's parking places, before which they annouce them being for a typical woman: still doing the groceries and still the main caretaker of children. Neat.
And some practical problems.. And how are you going to check if the woman's places are actually being occupied by the right people, and not by the those nice 4x4 city wagons? There are limited number of parking spaces for handi-people, simply because there are very few handi-people around. And if it's actually true that mostly women do the groceries, then most of the parking spaces should widened ;)

Short translation: the Dutch christian democrats want to make women only parking lots. They should be close to the building entrance, extra well lit and be extra large to easily take out kids or groceries.
So the christian democrats in the Netherlands believe that: - women are weak and afraid in the dark - women are the only ones taking the baby to the daycare center - women are the only ones doing grocery shopping - women can't park in small spaces - women have really large butts
They must be so popular with the ladies.

Thanks for the translation and the interpretation..
But what is so special about women only parking lots? They are everywhere (shopping centers, underground stations..) in Germany since many years, right next to the ones reserved for handicapped people..
But I have to admit that walking alone in a dark parking at night is not the most comfortable feeling. And I agree that most women cannot park properly, even in very big spaces. But it's fun to watch them trying, so maybe the brighter light is just some kind of spotlight. And most of the time there is also a surveillance camera very close by.
