Because both me and my girlfriend are used to eating some warm food at noon, I'm often travelling by car/bike (depending on the weather) to the astrid resto about 1.5 km from here. The food there is basic and cheap but it's still edible :). But it seems I'm the only one preferring the warm food at noon since I am truly a psb loner over there. Are there some alternatives I don't know of (except the uz resto), or is everyone sandwich addicted? Sometimes there go mails around to eat at the chess café, autostrade, burgemeester, country club, ... These are all nice places, but at about €15 a meal I wouldn't call it an alternative to the university's dining hall. That being said I wouldn't mind getting a meal at Astrid every now and then, maybe we can create a new tradition ? ( still 4 noons left each weak) Joost Van Den Cruyce schreef:

meh, I ate too much resto food in my student days :/ I do not really consider the resto food edible anymore. And I prefer to able to chose what I can eat anyways :-) Sebastian Proost wrote:

Same here, to be honest. I rather cook whatever I want in the evening than going to the resto and not have a lot of choice... or spend too much money on it going to burgermeester or stuff like that... ;-) Sofie Michiel Van Bel wrote:

Hi, on campus we have a small restaurant in the building 'Betontechniek' (resto Ardoyen. enter the building and go left or go with one of 't Volkske). They serve a soup of the day (hot), spaghetti (hot) and sandwiches (not so hot). And you've got the Lunch Garden (ow sorry, the New Garden) if you cross the bridge (next to Carefour). They serve hot and kind of cheap meals (always check at the carrefour cassiers for discount coupons, they usually provide some). -Kenny On Thu, 11 Jun 2009, Joost Van Den Cruyce wrote:

I'm in for an alternative lunch every now and then, but as many old students here, I've seen my part of Astrid, Brug and Overpoort food. It happens that I go see my girlfriend at the UZ resto (also discount with your UGent employee or student's card), but most of the time I prefer to do some cooking in the evening. Isn't the UZ resto closer than Astrid btw? Except of course when there are GFF's (Greasy Friday Fries).
