[Binari] [Fwd: cluster problems]

This is the second fucking time that the cluster just goes down and kills jobs that have been running for a week or longer. With only 7 days to go untill my paper submission deadline, it's impossible to run the analyses again on time. What bothers me is how lightly they deal with it, they don't even tell you that running jobs stopped, or why the fuck it happened again. Shouldn't they at least try to garantee uptime? Backup systems? It's the bloody cluster ffs, not a playground. I know I should swear less, but this really pisses me off. oh, I thought you just couldn't submit new jobs anymore. But apparently the entire cluster went down again. It's indeed quite strange how unstable the entire cluster often is. Sofie Van Landeghem wrote:

Exactly, that's what I thought! Untill I checked my jobs half an hour ago. I've already complained to Frederik about the lack of information and mis-information... Sigh... Sofie Michiel Van Bel schreef:

No, we had to programme in such a way that jobs only run max for a few hours IF you plan on submitting hundreds of them. Parsing or classification takes a long time, and can not be parallellised. Or would you expect the classifier to find an optimal solution when only seeing 1/1000th of the instances? 1/1000 of the features? Or the parser to find all grammatical relations when only seeing two words of the sentence? Sofie Lieven Sterck schreef:
