Hi, apparently, VDH still assembles it's computers (with omg, floppy drives included :/ I should dump that for a DVD drive, no ? ;)) Does anyone have any remarks about this list: http://www.vdhsoft.be/eu/0046.HTM I'm mainly interested in all PCs under 500e. (But I am hitting at those around 400e.) But I'm mainly confused weither to take a Athlon, a quadcore, a cure 2 duo, core 2 quad .. Does anyone have something sensible to say about it (like: it's not worth to already buy a quadcore as they simply don't offer the power for the money you throw at it.) All of the VDH computer have a NVidia 8400 GS (PCIe, 40e card). So, this is enough to play HL2 :) Unless all say that this is the most shitty card to buy :/ (I'm really out of touch with these things.) -Kenny -- ================================================================== Kenny Billiau Web Developer Tel:+32 (0)9 331 36 95 fax:+32 (0)9 3313809 VIB Department of Plant Systems Biology, Ghent University Technologiepark 927, 9052 Gent, BELGIUM kenny.billiau@ugent.be http://bioinformatics.psb.ugent.be ================================================================== "To do what is necessary, always is wise" - Sarek

Isn't a 350 Watt PSU a little underpowered for such a system ? Or are CPUs and GPUs now a days less power-hungry then 2 years ago even with their multiple cores ? Many older games don't really use multi-threading much so extra cores won't really pay off there, though I would opt for a quad just for converting videos and other stuff that can run in parallel in the background.
