[Confocal] Zeiss Exciter is running now on Windows 7 with the Zen 2009 software and some change in emission filters

Dear all, The PC of the Zeiss Exciter has been converted to Windows 7, which allows the use of the Zen 2009 software (the same as for the Zeiss 710). Please note that you should select 'WINDOWS 7' (and NOT windowd Vista) after starting up the computer. Also some emission filters are changed, which allows better imaging of RFP in channel 1 (bandpass filters are available now to eliminate the autofluorescence, whereas before there were only long pass filters available). In detail: LP 530 and LP 560 are moved from ch 1 to ch2 and BP 530-560 and BP 560-615 are moved from ch 2 to ch 1. This can result in problems when reloading your settings. Do check your emission filters after reloading! In case of questions or problems please contact Daniel or me. Dear confocal users, The DIC of the olympus confocal is operational again. Please note that the reload issue is still a problem. So reloading settings from image still requires checking and adapting the correct DM yourself! In case of problems please inform Daniel or me. [Confocal] olympus confocal: new argon laser - no DIC - reload problems (DM)

Dear all, Here some info concerning the olympus confocal: Today a new argon laser has been installed. So your samples should be very bright again The DIC channel is for the moment not fixed yet. I noticed some problems with reloading settings concerning the Dichroic mirror. Please after reloading the settings, check if you have the correct DM. This can influence your signal intensity a lot. I will inform you when these problems are fixed. If you encounter problems, please do inform me or Daniel. [Confocal] olympus confocal: do NOT switch off the argon laser (and laser combiner)

Dear confocal users, The Argon laser (458-488-515) is about to retire, after 8000 hours of use... For the moment he is still active, but please do NOT switch off till the new one is installed! Also the TD channel is still not active. This part went to the company for repairement. I will keep you informed when reparations are done. [Confocal] Olympus and Exciter problems

Dear all, The Olympus confocal is down as the controller box does not respond anymore. The Zeiss Exciter confocal suffers from mis-alignment of the 405nm laser compared to the other ones. The exciter confocal can still be used if you do not require the 405nm laser. The companies have been notified and we will try to solve these problems as soon as possible. I would also like to take this opportunity to stress the fact once more to put the covers on the microscopes when you are the last one using them. The covers are essential to protect the microscopes from dust generated by the airco system. Also, I keep finding black-capped bottles of water next to the microscopes and which are used on the immersion lenses. This is absolutely not allowed as it leads to mineral deposition on the lenses. The only water which can be used for the water immersion lenses has to be ultra purified (MQ from the small machine in the stock room). Finally, yesterday, I found out that the 60x lens of the spinning disc was unscrewed, leading to fluctuations in the Z-position.
