
Dear confocal users, The Zeiss 710 is again fully operational. Maintenance has been done and the repair of quit some stuff: - new argon laser - new microshutter (the reason why sometimes the argon light didn't reached the objective although the laser was on) - new motor tube lens (so NO longer error messages at the start, and the temporary solution causing a different focus plane between micrscopy view and scanning view is now also solved) Assuming that with this the Zeiss 710 will be running smoothly for quit some time! Dear 710 users,
The problem of blocked pathway is (partially) solved: - Pathway is no longer blocked. - You will still get 2 errors, that you can ignore (one about tube lens and one about 'not expected answer'). You can ignore these errors. - The only thing you have to take into account is: focussing through the microscope will NOT give you a focused image when scanning. Keep in mind that you will have to adapt the focus a lot when switching to scanning mode. (sometimes a lot especially when imaging with the 60x lens)
This is because the engine of the tube lens at the bottom of the microscope - required for keeping the same focus when switching between microscope view and scanning view - is not working properly anymore. Therefore we didn't had the appropriate tube lens and we got the error messages. This also caused the pathway to be blocked. As temporary solution the tube lens has been fixed to the scanning mode. The error messages stays because at start up the software always checks the tube lens (which he can not find anymore for the moment). Also the focus will not be adapted when switching between microscope view and scanning view.
The engine is ordered and will normally be installed also during maintenance at the end of the month.
