Subject: update:Zeiss Exciter
Dear all,The Zeiss Exciter is working again.A windows update caused the error message at the start. These udates seems to be very pushy as it was set not to have any updates.So, please, till further notice, do NOT allow any Windows update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The unsharp issue is also solved. Or at least it is improved a lot with the intervention.Most probably the tilting caused some issues with the laser fiber. Also a recalibration of the pinhole was done.As to be sure that the tilting doesn't cause a similar issue, I would like to be informed, (and be there) when the confocal would be tilted in the future: So, please contact me when you plan to tilt the confocal.I would like to get your feedback about the image quality.I compared a PI stained sample with the Zeiss 710 and it looked much better than before the intervention of Zeiss but less good compared to Zeiss 710 (but logic of course).But for those who worked a lot on it, could you let me know what your opinion is? Is this comparable as before? Can you use these images?Also take images and store them under \\psb.ugent.be\shares\research\images\images_cameras\confocal\Problems_Zeiss Exciter in case of issues.If not happy, it would be nice to have the same sample with same settings (average, pinhole, imaging speed, setup) at zeiss 710 and zeiss exciter.All parameters of the system have been checked, and this is the best to get out the machine. If this is not good enough, other actions will be required, possibly replacing some components. This will be very expensive and can only be done if we have clear evidence.In case of problems, doesn't hesitate to contact Daniel or me.Gr,

Subject: [Confocal] Zeiss Exciter: software doesn't start upDear Zeiss Exciter users,The Zeiss Exciter software doesn't start up dued to an error concerning the objectives ( CP Objectives can't open).I will inform you when this is solved (and also when the issue with the unsharp images is solved).In the meanwhile you could use the Olympus confocal, depending on the type of your experiment of course.Except for experiments where you need a tiltable confocal, a 25xWater lens, a 40X Water lens, Root tip tracking experiment, the Olympus confocal could be a good alternative. (in some cases even a better one than the Exciter).If needed, I can give you a very quick explanation on how to use.Sorry for these inconvenience,
