[Confocal] Confocal update

Dear all, The Olympus confocal is up and running (at least for the moment). The laser output (488) is 25mW instead of 35mW, but this should be usable. A new laser has been ordered and will be installed in the coming weeks. It is probable that the laser has an ignition problem, so if it does not start, give it some time. It does not harm to keep it on for a long time before it ignites. If it still refuses to ignite, contact me. Regarding the multi-area timelapse, the system jammed, probably because somebody was saving images on a personal drive. If another person subsequently logs in, the system tries to access the previous drive location and as it does not get access, the system crashes. Please only use the Olympus drive to store your images as normally everybody who uses the confocals should have access to this drive. to solve the problem, we generated another user account: ID: GUEST password: guest With this account, the multi-area timelapse module works again, it does not work with the previous account. I would also like to stress that people who are not familiar with the microscopes should get training or at least ask for help. This morning, the Zeiss710 was down and it took Lukasz, Matthias and me more than half an hour to finally figure out that somebody has been turning the key on the main control box. Please follow the normal procedure when switching off the microscopes and do not turn off any other switches. Have fun imaging, Daniel -- ================================================================== Daniel Van Damme Tel:+32 (0)9 331 39 33 fax:+32 (0)9 3313809 VIB Department of Plant Systems Biology, Ghent University Technologiepark 927, 9052 Gent, BELGIUM dadam@psb.vib-ugent.be http://www.psb.vib-ugent.be ==================================================================
