Dear BBC colleagues,

The Unit of Animal Genomics (UAG) at the GIGA-ULg (GIGA research institute of the University of Liège in Belgium) announces open POSTDOCTORAL research positions for highly motivated candidates with a keen interest in applying large-scale genomics data in animal and human disease genetics studies. Exciting research topics to be addressed include genomic selection for agronomically important traits, recombination, de novo mutation and genetic dissection of inherited predisposition to inflammatory bowel disease.

The successful candidates will be part of a dynamic research team which collaborates actively with top groups in the UK, Australia, The Netherlands and New Zealand, and will have the opportunity to work with two unique in-house datasets: (1) Damona, generated via an ERC-Advanced Grant and consists of >750 whole-genome sequences of carefully selected cattle pedigrees; and (2) CEDAR, consists of extensive -omics data from nine cell types of 300 healthy individuals. Detailed info on the UAG research and activities is available on: http://www.giga.ulg.ac.be/cms/c_20639/fr/unit-of-animal-genomics-home.

Applicants should have either of two research profiles:
(1) Background in bioinformatics and statistical genetics with programming knowledge; and/or
(2) Background in cell and molecular biology with experience and interest in analysing large datasets.

Successful candidates will be offered a two-year contract (with possibility of extension) and can start immediately.

All application documents (motivation letter, detailed curriculum vitae, contact details of three references) should be emailed to Prof Michel Georges (“michel.georges at ulg.ac.be”) with “marilou.ramospamplona at ulg.ac.be” in cc, with the subject heading: “UAG POSTDOC”.

Candidate screening and interviews will continue until suitable candidates are employed, with the first collection cut-off on 30 October 2016.

Sincerely,

ON BEHALF OF
Prof Michel Georges
