[BBC] Symposium Beyond the Genome - Februari 3rd 2023 - Antwerp, Belgium

Symposium Proteomics beyondthegenome at uantwerpen.be
Fri Dec 16 09:57:45 CET 2022

The Beyond the Genome working group is pleased to announce Beyond the Genome: ethical aspects of large cohort studies, a one-day symposium at the University of Antwerp on February 3th, 2023.

The symposium will focus on the shift from curative medicine to preventive and personalized medicine. This requires the collection, storage, and processing of large personal datasets. The new GDPR in the European Union protects the personal data of European citizens. This has been applied to genomics, yet there are many other different -omics that may or may not contain relevant personal data. With a special focus on proteomics. The symposium will focus on raising several important ethical questions and privacy risks based on the ethical, legal, and societal implications (ELSI) framework. This symposium aims to inform scientists and ethicists, as well as people with an interest in privacy regulations and participatory medicine.

Registration is mandatory and can be done via the following link: https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/conferences/beyond-the-genome/registration/
