Dear all, On the 9th&10th of December 2019 the second Antwerp T-cell Receptor (TCR) Meeting will be organised, following the success of last year’s edition. This two-day international meeting aims to offer a venue for researchers working on TCR sequencing, analysis and applications to present their data and discuss their views on this quickly evolving field. We have assembled a list of leading researchers in the field to provide keynotes for the meeting, including Dr. Victor Greiff (University of Oslo), Dr. Aridaman Pandit (University Medical Center Utrecht), Dr. Sarina Ravens (Hannover Medical School), Dr. Mikhail Shugay (Skoltech Faculty), and Dr. Paul Thomas (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital). Dear all, We are looking for a post-doc to strengthen our computational team within the Cancer Epigenomics Division at the DKFZ in Heidelberg. The successful candidate will help expand and bring to maturity our portfolio of best-practice workflows for epigenomic data. To enable this work we are actively employ and create infrastructure for the Common Workflow Language (http://commonwl.org) The primary focus will be set upon workflows for DNA methylation profiling by whole-genome bisulfite sequencing, both bulk and single-cell, for which we are currently running a large-scale benchmarking study supported by external funding (see this talk for details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGUO_d-xaIE) The candidate will take active part in finalising and publishing results of the initial phase of the study. Furthermore, the candidate will participate in downstream and integrative analyses of these data types, contributing to several exciting projects in cancer epigenomics. It has enormous application in numerous fields, including science, engineering, healthcare, business, and medicine. Typical datasets in these fields are large, complex, and often noisy. Extracting knowledge from these datasets requires the use of sophisticated, high-performance, and principled analysis techniques and algorithms, which are based on sound theoretical and statistical foundations. We are looking for a candidate to fill the vacancy and work on a project entitled: Netherlands X-omics initiative (https://www.x-omics.nl) This PhD position is embedded within the larger collaborative interdisciplinary research group at the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Groningen (RUG), the European Research Institute for Biology of Aging (ERIBA) and the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). You will be part of ongoing large-scale collaborative project that involves teams from UMCs and Universities (Utrecht, Leiden, Nijmegen) to develop effective strategies for analysis of multi-omics data. *Job description* In the research project the PhD student is expected to develop and implement pipeline to analyse a variety of clinical and omics (proteomics, transcriptomics, genomics) data sets. This pipeline will be tested on clinical datasets that include multi-omics data such as from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, and head and neck cancer patients. In collaboration with medical experts from these fields the obtained results will be used to shed more light onto important clinical questions: to identify the key molecular mechanisms of these complex diseases, to find biomarkers to improve patient classification, to identify new drug targets, and to support personalised treatment of the patients in the future. The successful candidate will strongly benefit from working in a highly interdisciplinary research team composed of clinical researchers, analytical chemists, bioinformaticians and statisticians. The different groups, involved in this interdisciplinary project, have an excellent scientific infrastructure and track record in genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics and data integration. University of Groningen has an excellent research infrastructure and the Graduate School of Science of the Faculty of Science and Engineering offer trainings to improve academic and scientific skills. *Qualifications* • a master’s degree in bioinformatics, computer science or genetics. • a strong background in biology or bioinformatics and should have strong skills in programming (python, R), and experience in running and building analysis pipelines (e.g. using snakemake). • experience with data analysis of one of the omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) fields would be a significant advantage as well as experience in the clinical translation of these data.
