We'll focus on teaching you the principles and guidelines of data visualisation (perception, cognition, etc), designing visuals for complex omics data, and implementing them in D3. Calling all budding bioinformaticians: 'Bioinformatics for Genomics' is a weeklong introductory workshop combining our popular 'Linux for Genomics', 'R for Genomics', and 'Introduction to RNA-seq Data Analysis' workshops. Under the expert guidance of Edinburgh Genomics' Bioinformaticians you will be introduced to Linux command line, allowing you to navigate through directories, managing files, and using bioinformatics tools; you will be introduced to the statistical environment R, including everything from basic skills up to producing publication ready graphics; and finally, you will be guided though RNA sequence analysis, from QC and processing tools through to differential expression statistics, interpretation, and gene set analysis. Big Data Challenge: multiple PhD positions available at the German Cancer Research Center

Dear all, I would like to draw the attention of all current and graduated M.Sc. students to the International PhD Program of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ): https://www.dkfz.de/en/phd-program/ The selection takes place twice a year with the upcoming deadline on Jan 5th. The program is highly competitive, and computational biologists are making pretty good chances nowadays. The centre, located at the core of the Heidelberg research campus, is an excellent institution within the Helmholtz Association, and is a home to more than 3000 scientists. I am representing the division of Cancer Epigenomics, where we have way too many exciting projects and data sets requiring bioinformatic expertise. We help in deciphering epigenetic mechanisms of cancer, but also develop new computational methods. Dear all We are looking for a postdoc to work on an exciting project that aims at developing a computational framework to design cellular reprogramming strategies. This framework will be applied to establish novel protocols for dopaminergic neuron development in consonance with the interest of our Center in the study of neurodegenerative diseases, especially Parkinson’s disease. In particular, the selected candidate shall develop a network-based computational approach, using single-cell transcriptomics data, to model cell populations dynamics and design strategies for cellular reprogramming. In addition, he/she will participate in the project management and planning, including the supervision of one Ph.D. student and one master student. This is a collaborative project with Karolinska Institute, where the experimental validation of the computational predictions will be conducted.
