Dear all, The regional student group (RSG Belgium) of the International Society for Computational Biology, along with Biomina [1], is organizing the annual Bioinformatics Student Symposium of 2018 in Antwerp. The main goal of this event is to provide a forum for young researchers and students in bioinformatics to present their work and also network with their peers. This event will take place on TUESDAY 22ND MAY 2018 at the University of Antwerp, in the city campus. Postdoc position 'Integrated analysis of genomic and epigenomic alterations in developmental disorders' (IB2, ULB, Brussels) A Postdoc position on 'Integrated analysis of genomic and epigenomic alterations in developmental disorders' is available at the Interuniversity Institute of Bioinformatics in Brussels (IB2, Vrije Universiteit Brussel VUB and Université Libre de Bruxelles ULB, Belgium). The research goal is to contribute to the development of new bioinformatic methodologies that could lead to increase the genetic diagnostic yield by integrating multi-omics data (Whole genome sequencing, Infinium DNA methylation). Both fundamental and clinical aspects will be addressed by using NGS data that will be produced in the context of the IGenCare 'Integrated Medical Genomics Care Solution for Patients with Rare Genetic Diseases' project. The position is funded for 2 years by an International research mobility fellowship and could start as early as April 3, 2018. The International research mobility fellowship rules require that the fellow has not resided or carried out its main activity (employment, studies) in Belgium for more than 24 months during the last 3 years. The candidate should hold a PhD in bioinformatics, molecular biology or in computer sciences and demonstrate proficiency in genomics, algorithmics, statistics and in software development (R, python). Experience with whole genome sequencing or massive datasets analysis would be a plus. The applicant should also demonstrate interest for interdisciplinary research. This course is targeted for Biostatistical techniques often employed in analytical tools for high throughput data and multivariate data. This international workshop will bring together individuals from organisations and projects who have expertise in defining and in applying competency bioinformatics and data science frameworks in their own organisations.
